چکیده

In this paper, we propose a 3D model to characterize the field scattered by an urban area, which is composed of a group of buildings, for both monostatic and bistatic radar configurations. This model is based on a ray-tracing technique combined with the Uniform Theory of Diffraction (UTD). It is useful not only in elucidating mechanisms of ray propagation through the observed area, but also in evaluating the amplitude and the phase of any point in the far-zone scattered field above the ground. In order to validate the model, some comparisons with the commercial software XGTD R © are presented. In addition, our model is tested against 33–37GHz indoor measurements conducted in the anechoic chamber of the “ElectroMagnetic Effects Research Lab” (EMERL) in Singapore. These latter comparisons have shown that the model can predict precisely the location of a target placed between two metallic plates representing walls.

Effects of Geometry Configurations on Am- Biguity Properties for Bistatic Mimo Radar

Bistatic multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar can improve the system performance for obtaining the waveform diversity and larger degrees of freedom (DoF), and effectively counteract the stealthy target for its transmit antennas and receive antennas separated placement. Similarly with the conventional bistatic radar, the geometry configurations of bistatic MIMO radar also play an importan...

Evaluation of a Monostatic Stap Radar Range-compensation Method Applied to Selected Bistatic Configurations

The detection of slow moving targets by a moving bistatic pulsed Doppler radar system is addressed. Optimum clutter rejection is achieved using space-time adaptive processing (STAP). This requires estimating the clutter-plus-noise covariance matrix using a sequence of snapshots at successive ranges. For most monostatic and for all bistatic radar configurations, these snapshots are rangedependan...

ISAR Imaging and Scaling Method of Precession Targets in Wideband T/R-R Bistatic Radar

Imaging and scaling of precession targets are very important in spatial target surveillance. The bistatic wideband radar echo model of the spatial precession cone-shaped target is induced, and bistatic ISAR imaging method based on time-frequency analysis is described. Combined with the monostatic and bistatic scattering characteristics of cone-shaped targets, the cross scaling method is present...

Experimental Results Using Satellite Illuminator for Passive Bistatic Radar

Passive, bistatic radar offers an attractive method for remotely detecting and imaging targets without the requirement of a dedicated transmitter. Passive radar systems are usually cheaper than their active counterparts, which easily allows for multi-sensor networks. Furthermore, passive radar systems are difficult to detect and jam. With these advantages come several challenges, however. Bista...

ONERA-DLR bistatic SAR campaign: planning, data acquisition, and first analysis of bistatic scattering behaviour of natural and urban targets

Bistatic configuration is an attractive concept for spaceborne and airborne SAR missions when distributed radars are necessary as for example in the case of interferometric applications. The first reason is the important cost reduction achieved over the multiple radar elements, by having only one transmitter (expensive part) and multiple receivers. The most promising applications are single-pas...
